Have You Gotten Your Perfect Eyeglasses? Have You Gone for Rimmed, Semi-Rimless or Rimless?

November 19th, 2009

In addition to being beneficial to vision, glasses comprise part of your appearance and are of greater or lesser fashionability. Of course, they are also something you don’t wish to have to replace regularly or wear when uncomfortable. Getting the right eyeglasses is much quicker when you know the various advantages and disadvantages of rimmed, semi-rimless, and rimless eyeglasses. Duck the stress and guarantee the perfect pair at your first try! Sturdiness is a hallmark of eyewear with rimmed frames, a boon to those whose property must resist hard use – a group including younger people. A further major advantage of rimmed eyeglasses resides in the arena of style. Wider frames, stronger styles, and a greater array of creativity are provided for for by the design’s continuity. Choose either polycarbonate or glass lenses in line with your budget. As a consequence of their reasonable prices, frames like these have taken pride of place as the most popular and that recognizability leads many to typically be more at ease using them than other styles of frame. The semi-rimless style of frame is employed when a professional fashion is desired. Having only a frame around the top or bottom, they are a great choice for anyone with narrow facial structure. Unite the lightweight feel of rimless styles with the stability of a full frame. The right individual can use the right frames to amplify their style. An important point is these frames leave the lens edge clearly visible, and consequently if you have a prescription requiring a thicker lens you may wish to use frames with a full rim. Finally, polycarbonate lenses are your best choice when your frames are semi-rimless due to the unprotected edges.

If you wear a slim lens you will find an ideal choice in rimless frames. Blending in remarkably with your face and available in an unlimited assortment of lens shapes, they’re lightweight and comfortable. On the downside, these are the least sturdy of the three frame types and they’ll as a rule boast a higher price tag. If you would prefer not to alter your style greatly from when you didn’t wear eyewear, you have no smarter alternative. These styles feature polycarbonate lenses.

The ultimate price of your glasses is decided by your selection of frames, not forgetting their comfort level. Through a comparison of the pros and cons of the three major kinds of frame with your own personal tastes and budget you’re sure to find the ideal pair of eyeglasses.

Fire Suppression Plans Signifies Protection

November 18th, 2009

In the workplace, it is imperative that a fire suppression plan be accomplished. You need to protect your business, and your most profound asset, your employees. Fire prevention should be the basic and first priority. . Fire suppression equipments are also not sufficient. Aside from fire prevention, you also need an action program that will protect your personnel and minimize any further harms to property.

To prepare an operational FM200 Fire Suppression action plan, you can start out by putting together a group whose intent is to grow the plan. Then, they can start predicting the hardest scenarios achievable. Afterwards, they should distinguish the regions in the workplace where a fire can come about most likely. They should also describe where the fire can impose the biggest damage and spread most quickly to the remainder of the building. Naming where the fire can pose the biggest threat to everybody should be done also. Determining and adapting to the office’s requirements would be the next matter to manage. For multi-level buildings, it is hinted that separate plans be produced for the different regions and floors so utmost safety is assured. We must remember that some regions of the building may be more prone to fires than others.

Fire perils are everybodys worry so each one should have a duty no matter how little it may appear to be. Another matter your emergency action group should facilitate is to take into condition other critical components in the building such as environmental conditions, hardware facilities, electrical or electronic tools, flammable fluids and other areas that exhibit prospective danger and require protection.

Embedded in the fire emergency plan are:

Procedure to report fires – How employees will be alerted in a fire emergency and how they should report it must be handled. If relevant, particular needs for disabled or handicapped employees should be covered.
Evacuation processes – Supplemental risk, injury and confusion is the result of chaotic evacuation programs and processes.
Assignment of escape roads – Strategically placed maps of floor programs with distinctly marked escape routes, safe regions and post-evacuation meeting areas.
Listing of names, titles, departments and phone numbers of individuals within your business or department.
Description of duties and responsibilties of key staff during fire emergencies
Procedures for employees who execute or close crucial operations before evacuating, operate fire extinguishers or other emergency equipment.
Rescue and medical obligations key employees are specified to do
Employee training on initial aid, emergency response procedures and evacuation and accountability procedures

All about Bullets

November 17th, 2009

Brass – What Is it?

Brass is the cartridge or the metallic package which curb the bullet, gunpowder and
primer$] (percussion cap
) which is made on the dot to fit a firearm’s firing chamber. Unremarkably, a $[brass is categorized according to the caliber of the bore of a firearm and according to the type of the fire arm. The
case of the firearm could be something like a pistol or a rifle. It is also great to know that the brass differs from
one manufacturer to another. Norma being a Swedish amminition manufacturing company
channels very good repute in the industry for being a leading manufacturer of brass.

What Are Cast Bullets?

Cast bullets are bullets made out or casted out from custom molds. The reasons for chosing cast bullets
are a many. The first reason is that you get a chance to customize and mold the bullets according to specific calibers and diameters. Cast bullets are known to give you the precision of a handgun and
even, that of a rifle. High quality cast bullet suppliers exist in
almost all over the country. Some of rifle bullets are designed for smokeless loading and are offered
by many suppliers as are cast bullets that work really well on hand guns.

Discover the Story Behind Lead Bullets

Lead bullets gave
trouble all the way. For example, when they grind with the firearm bore, a signicant amount of lead residue was left behind. That is why firearm barrel needed cleaning after every fireoff. In order to save the trouble, they
invented jacketed bullets. In jacketed bullets, the lead core of the bullet is wrapped around a thin copper case so that any lead parts of the bullet would not touch the
bore of the firearm. The bullet is usually produced by forcing a lead in to a cup shaped copper case. However, most copper cases
are made of an alloy called gliding metal that contains about 95% copper and 5% zinc. This alloy leaves less copper residue behind and is much harder in nature. Even though, some residue is left in the gun barrel after firing these bullets, it is much far less
compared to lead bullets. In addition, this does not seem to affect the accuracy of the bullet. Jacketed bullets are available for both handguns such as pistols and also
rifles.

November 14th, 2009

There is nothing new about the idea of wagering. In reality, royalty, knights, and the upper classes have bet on a plethora of events from the dawn of history. Today, however, the rise of the Internet has altered betting forever. The Internet allows everybody to gamble on well-nigh any sporting event there is without leaving home.

Only the most wealthy people in society were permitted to stake their money to begin with. The aristocracy could take a chance on the victor of a staged fight or who would be victorious in a horse race. With time, gambling got into the bars, here men could afford bet on dominoes and even plain and simple bar fights. Boxing, cricket, rugby, and even soccer bets soon spread across the world.

Very soon everyone could wager in nearby bookies on team sports and on competitions arranged specifically for betting. wagering wasn’t merely reserved for onlookers either. Occasionally the sports celebrities themselves will bet on their own games. Unfortunately, this did have a few drawbacks because everyone who didn’t reside in heavily populated areas were not close to these types of services, at least not the lawful ones anyway. Until recently you could merely bet on nearby or televised events. After the launch of the Internet, all these problems were wiped out immediately. Nowadays, individuals have the convenience of switching on their personal computer and finding out everything they could possibly require to gamble on their preferred football team or individual, irrespective of where they live. Temper Chocolates Like a Pro!

November 10th, 2009
All commercial chocolate-makers and master chefs temper chocolate to bring a sheeny, creamy texture to their confections as well as increase their chocolates’ shelf life. Untempered chocolate is prone to bloom, its surface dull, has a grainy feel in the mouth, tastes powdery, and crumbles when it’s broken off. Consumers normally relate these features to a product that has reached its date of expiration and will just throw it out or ignore it for others that are more tempting. When it comes to chocolates, looks really matters.
If you’re planning to make your own chocolate candy, you need to know that the secret in producing quality chocolates lies with proper tempering. The reason for this is that the fatty acids in a cocoa butter has to form into as many type V crystals as possible for this creates the excellent texture and the shiny appearance standard to commercial-grade chocolate. There are several forms of crystals that can form and one crystal is dominant over the other at different temperatures. This is the chemical basis behind chocolate tempering.
In manual tempering, one basic method involves “seeding” melted chocolate with already-tempered chocolate, which will serve as magnets for binding the loose fatty acids. These will also induce the preferable crystals to form much more rapidly.
The important principle in a successfully tempered chocolate lies with sustaining proper temperatures at all times. Even if you are well-versed in the techniques of manual tempering, you also have to contend with a variety of factors, among others:
The heat in your working area
Your ability to keep track of several things at once
The quality of your thermometers and temper meters,
The moisture in your equipment
Generally, chocolatiers experience difficulties not with tempering methods but with these unruly variables that induces chocolate to lose its temper. When you temper by hand, for sure you’re never sure of delivering standard-grade confectioneries at all times.
Tempering is made easier by a chocolate tempering machine. So what is it and why is it useful? Considering an investment in chocolate tempering machines will help relieve you of these hassles. This countertop appliance will automate tempering, leaving you to work on other things besides monitoring temperatures. It’s also a good way for you to create exceptional chocolates like the master chocolatiersyou’ll have time to prepare or create the designs for your chocolates to make it more delectable and alluring to the eyes. You may even excel from a run of the mill chocolatier to an excellent pro!

Modern Art History: Cuban Artists and Cubism

November 10th, 2009

Cuban artistry is a diverse ethnic fusion of European, North American and African aesthetic design showing the multiethnic demographic of the island. Cuban artists developed European modernism and the 1920-1940 era saw an increase in Cuban modernist movements; these trends were known by a mixture of modern esthetic genres. Renowned Cuban creatives tended to come from the early part of the 20th century.

Perhaps the most well-known art (of sorts) to be produced in Cuba was THAT shot of Che Guevara (photograph by Mr Alberto Korda) which was to become possibly one of the most noted photographs of the 20th century.

The native Cuban art cause gathered momentum after the opening of the San Alejandro academy in 1818, which was built to fulfil the European appreciation of the Cuban bourgeoisie. Towards the end of the 19th century, landscapes dominated Cuban art and classicalism prevailed as the main art style. Nevertheless, the Vanguardia Cuban modern artist of the late 1920s had disapproved the academic orthodoxies of the national art academy of Cuba. During their formative years, numerous artists had resided in Paris, where they learned and absorbed the founding rules of surrealism, cubism, and modernist primitivism. They returned to Cuba committed to new artistic styles and were motivated to integrate this new aesthetic leaning with a Cuban twist. The pioneering Cuban artists achieved world recognition in 2003 with the Modern Cuban Painting show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Such styles have now been made very fashionable through canvas art adorned on walls around the world.

A Little Summer Reading

November 10th, 2009

Want to have a few laughs during your summer holiday? Don’t leave home without these reading “gems” from business columnist Lisa Nirell.
A Little Summer Reading

One of the toughest things I have to do as an executive mentor is to convince my clients–most of whom are tough-as-nails, driven workaholics–that they’re more effective when they routinely take some time off. Recharging your batteries isn’t optional for growth; it’s mandatory.

The good news is, the power of escape is at our fingertips. All you have to do is get in your car, fight off the Del Mar Fair traffic, jockey for the last parking spot at the Beach, and stake your claim on the sand.

Or, just close the office door for 30 minutes every day, and savor some classics. When the going gets tough, the tough get reading. With tongue only slightly in cheek, I’d like to recommend some personal favorites, slotted into “traditional categories.” Remember: The point is to enjoy. This isn’t homework. Laugh a little. ‘Tis the season for light clothing, light food, and light reading.

Fiction and Poetry Birth of the Chaordic Age. Dee Hock (1999, Berrett-Koehler) The Founder of VISA International explains the magical birth of VISA’s creation, revealing how chaos and order merged to allow competing banks to peacefully create a $1.25 trillion organization for a time (who can forget the 1998 Department of Justice antitrust lawsuit against VISA and Mastercard?). Hock has a magical way of discussing the impact the “monkey mind” (aka “inner voice” or “doubting Thomas”) on the success of new projects.

Non Fiction The Princessa: Machiavelli for Women. Harriet Rubin (1999, Dell) Rubin offers practical examples of how women, ranging from George Eliot to Golda Meir, have gained power using ease and grace. She outlines a critical distinction between winning the battle versus “besting” your enemy, and demonstrates how a battle strategy defeated Hilary Clinton’s efforts to launch her Health Care Initiative (her own husband’s team was sent in to work against her!). Who needs fiction when you can learn age-old lessons from real-life political drama?

Mystery Cyber Rules. Thomas Siebel, et. al. (2000, Doubleday) Want to learn how to write a company brochure disguised as a hardcover visionary book? Add this flavor of the month from days gone by to your paperweight list! In this high-tech “whodunit,” protagonist Siebel carefully orchestrates twists, turns, and surprises that finally culminate in the revelation of The Secret Of Success. (If you hate spoilers, skip ahead to the next book.) The real twist in the plot appears when Siebel asks a Board member – Charles Schwab – to write the Foreword. Later, the big secret comes out: “Put the Customer First.” While the real mystery might be how it took civilization 2000 years to figure this out, Cyber Rules remains a relatively good read. Auctioned copies start at $.09, so hurry and order your copy today.

Science Fiction The Road Ahead. Bill Gates (1995, Penguin) Wherein Mr. Gates describes his future dream home: “A house that tracks its occupants in order to meet their particular needs and combines two traditions: Unobtrusive service, and that an object we carry entitles us to be treated in a certain way.” (Does this mean I can program the bulletin board to refuse to give my husband the Mercedes keys when he’s just going to the grocery store? Sign me up!) The title appears to have been a mix-up; I am convinced that it really meant to say, George Orwell goes to Redmond. Still an amusing read after all these years.

Children’s Books The One Minute Millionaire. Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen. (2002, Harmony) Here’s a novel idea for an industry that once prided itself in get rich quick schemes, high margin products and services: What if you gave away a percentage of your profits each year to mentor young people, or to support worthwhile non-profit endeavors? The storybook layout of this book keeps things entertaining and light, yet the messages are compelling. If you want to create new prosperity possibilities for yourself and your family, read on–especially the story about Millionaire Michelle.

What Should I Do With My Life? Po Bronson (2002, Random House) Two years have passed since we saw early signs of the dot-com collapse’s impact on millions of careers. This turn of events inspired Bronson to listen to the life stories of more than 900 people who have challenged their own career choices. “What makes this a children’s book,” you ask? Many of Bronson’s subjects dug deep into their childhoods to remind themselves of what fuels and inspires them.

Isn’t that what summer is all about?

Would You Bet on Your Brand? – Three Strategies for Winning at Brand Poker

November 10th, 2009

It seems you can’t turn on the TV without seeing some sort of World Series of Poker contest. Poker, especially, Texas Hold ‘Em, has become extremely popular. It’s not for crusty old men anymore. Poker has a new brand – it is now young, hip and cool. When branding your business, take a lesson from poker. See, match, and push are poker terms that can have major impact on your brand. Below is a review of how you can use these traditional poker terms to raise the level of your brand-poker game.

1) See – Have a clear vision of what you want your brand to become. If you can see it, you can achieve it. I once heard a story about a reporter speaking to Roy Disney, at the opening of Disney World. The reporter commented that it was sad Walt was not alive to see Disney World. Walt’s brother quickly replied, “if Walt had never seen this, you wouldn’t be seeing it now!” Where do you see your brand in a perfect future? Can you describe it down to the smallest details?

2) Match – Be certain your actions fit with your brand. Good marketing is not always good marketing. A guy in a chicken suit may be a great way for a new chicken store to promote awareness. However, it would not fit for a new financial adviser office. The fit isn’t there. Associations and partnerships are just as important to match with your brand. You don’t see Tommy Hilfiger apparel on the shelves at Walmart. It simply would not be a good fit. The brands are too different.

3) Push – Lean into your limits. Sometimes limits are just there because no one has the courage to test them. Starbucks took coffee out of the deli and well, you know the rest of the story. It is safe to assume there were naysayers that laughed at such an idea! There are coffee addicts all over the world thankful that some businesses push the limits. Perhaps there are aspects of your product or service that have not been exploited for all of their value.

Follow all three strategies and you are sure to notice a sharp improvement in your brand-poker game. If your brand-poker game is strong, your business is sure to be stacking lots of chips!

Traditional poker definitions:

See – To call in the final round of betting.

Match – To put in the pot an amount equal to that already there.

Push – When a new dealer replaces an existing dealer at a particular table.
