Take Advantage Mini Trampolines this Month

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Trampolines can be considerably enjoyable in addition to being able to keep your teenagers engaged and busy for a lot of hours. Some Trampolines are not simply designed for children, as many can additionally be bought by mature people as an aerobic health exercise on top of a means for tightening and toughening arm muscles concurrently. Due to this a trampoline has a lot to offer throughout the summer months for the complete family and it’s of no amazement that trampolines are such a popular toy all through the sunny holidays.

The essential thing to consider when getting a trampoline is to guarantee it is correct for the age and ability of the individuals who will be using it, be it the kids’ or the older people.

A further thing to keep in mind is obviously going to be the location of the kids’ trampoline. Various trampolines today can call for up a large degree of garden space especially as you will require about three feet of space more or less around the exterior of the trampoline in order for the children to land in one piece if they fortuitously plunge off. Find the best guides to outdoor toys at Toy Shopper.

It’s also critical to remember that the majority of outdoor trampolines will need to be sited on smooth land or else the robustness & protection of the outdoor trampoline can be seriously affected. Therefore, quite a few trenches may possibly need to be produced in order for the trampoline to stand-up correctly.

Read This Article if You Love Your Family

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Do you love your family; does your family mean all the world to you? Are you constantly trying to figure out how to make your family tighter and more complete? You know there is a very good reason for this. If you look at the animal kingdom you will see that humans are so similar in that regard to our families. It appears that all animals including humans indeed have some innate characteristics and genetic coding, which makes this all possible. Family is a very important thing to all of us and it appears that there is very good reasons for this. Without a strong family structure and humans working together in societal groupings, we may never have been able to get to a point to bring our civilization to where it is today.

One interesting point in the need for family are comments coming from business titans, research scientists, prominent politicians, accomplished actors and successful athletes and that is as their careers and life wind down they are often asked; “Is there anything that they regret?” More often than not and I would wager to say 95% of the time they will say, “I wished I had spent more time with my family, that is what is really important to me now.” Some even go so far as to say; “If I had it all over to do again, I would have spent more time with my family, because that is something money cannot buy.”

So you see not only is it a genetically coded innate characteristic it is also a basic need of our own personal psyche for personal satisfaction. All these folks are trying to tell us something; I sincerely hope everyone is listening, because at the end of their lives they are warning us about how we should be living today. Family is everything, so think on this.

Adirondack Chairs: An Ole’ Time Becon for Rest

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

The Adirondack chair is the classic mainstay chair of the cottage and patio. Although the name may be new to you, it prabably wasn’t to your grandparents. For it was in the early 1900’s that what was originally called the “Westport chair” became popular. West port is a small town in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. Within a few years, the Westport chair was renamed the Adirondack chair.

Its popularity is due to the ingenious design that makes it so comfortable. It’s noted for several features that mark it as unique. The chair’s back is slanted at the perfect angle for dozing off for an outdoor nap. The wide side arms is ample room for a newspaper, book, and a cool summer drink. As a snooze tempter, time seems to disappear when things are so nice.

The Adirondack chair is a very rustic design that easily fits into any traditional decor. Its the perfect type of chair for the patio, deck, or porch. Some folks like to place one or two on a back lawn under a large tree where it becomes like a welcoming becon for a nice rest.

Finishes

Everyone wants their chairs to look good. Today there are many more finish options available than the original dark green or brown paint offerred on the original chairs.

Today, these wooden chairs come in a variety of finishes. They are available:

1. Painted with an ultra-sheek latex enamel that is non-toxic and mixed with SPF agents to resist fading.

2. Finished with a clear poly to allow the chairs to show its grain.

3. Finished with a UV protected stain to allow the chairs to age a bit more slowly. Or

4. En naturale, meaning no finish treatment is applied. This option works with teck which contains natural oils that resists the elements very well.

If you select to have Adirondack chairs painted, there are several techniques to consider:

1. A pristine finish is the usual technique, meaning they are painted in a solid color.

2. A distressed finish means that after the paint dries, the chair is slightly sanded in selected areas to enhance the grain and give it an antique look.

3. A washed finish means the entire chair is sanded to give a more weathered or antique look.

Remember that painted and stained chairs will need periodic maintenance. If that is a problem then you may wish to consider plastic. Then all you’ll need to do a little cleaning.

Adirondack chairs are handsome, durable and they are built to last. Like a becon, they’re immediately identified by those passing by as an always-ready invitation to relaxation.

Refinancing Your House Mortgage – 3 Reasons to Refinance While Rates are Low

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Before mortgage interest rates begin to rise, homeowners should
consider the advantages of refinancing now. Although we’re witnessing record low rates, these rates will not last forever. Unfortunately, many
homeowners will delay refinancing and miss out on the savings. There are many reasons to refinance. Here are the top three reasons to refinance while rates are low.

Reduce Your Monthly Mortgage Payment

Interest rates greatly effect mortgage payments. Individuals with poor
credit can get approved for home loans. However, the lender will charge
higher fees or interest. If you receive a high interest rate, you may
pay a couple of hundred dollars more than a good credit applicant who
applied for the same mortgage amount.

If you purchased your existing home with poor credit, refinancing for a
lower rate may decrease your monthly payments, especially if your
credit has improved. Obtaining a home loan is a great way to boost your
credit rating. In fact, many homeowners notice an increase in their credit
score after establishing a good payment history with their mortgage
lender. Thus, if you received a bad credit mortgage, make an effort to
better your credit, and then refinance for a low rate.

Get a Fixed Rate Mortgage Loan

Furthermore, many homeowners choose to refinance their existing
mortgage to take advantage of a low fixed rate. When interest rates were
higher, many home buyers opted for adjustable rate mortgages because they
carried lower rates. Although homeowners with an adjustable rate mortgage
also benefit from decreases in interest rates, these low rates are not
promised.

Every so often, mortgage rates rise and fall. If rates begin to climb,
so do the rates for an adjustable mortgage. Hence, mortgage payments
will increase. To avoid increased payments, refinance and secure a low
fixed rate that will remain the same throughout the duration of the loan.

Take Advantage of Cash-Out Refinancing

Cash-out refinancing is a very attractive feature to refinancing your
current home loan. With this option, you can refinance for a better
rate, and borrow from your home’s equity. At closing, you will be given a
lump sum of cash. Funds may be used to consolidate debts, remodel your
home, take a nice vacation, or pay for a child’s education expense.

Playing 6-Max Low Limit Poker

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Introduction

Shorthanded (6-max) texas holdem is a different animal than ten or nine handed poker. Low limit shorthanded poker has a few more wrinkles than the higher limit variety. Much of the literature regarding shorthanded poker is aimed at the higher limits, where many post-flop battles are heads up. We will focus on games similar to the 1/2 6 max games at Party Poker

Starting Hands

As at any level of poker, starting hands are the foundation of your holdem game. On the 1/2 6 max tables, you will frequently be facing 2 or 3 opponents with VPIP’s (voluntarily put $ in the pot…see Poker Tracker Guide for more detail) of 50 percent or more. Now, just because many of your opponents will be starting with shaky hands doesn’t mean you should stoop to their level. Texas holdem at any level is about playing starting hands with positive expected values. The other poker players’ looseness combined with the fewer number of opponents will allow you to play more hands, but it is still optimal to keep your VPIP below 30.

In general, playing 6 max, raise with any Ace with a kicker of ten or higher, King-Queen and King-Jack, and Queen-Jack suited as well as pairs down to nines. You should limp with any two cards ten or higher in any position. In the last two seats, you can play any two cards nine or higher. Suited connectors down to 65 can be played anywhere and any other hand with two suited cards 8 or higher as well as suited Aces can be played. Pocket sixes and sevens are playable anywhere. With the smaller pockets, play them if there are two limpers ahead of you. The hands you decide to play in the first two seats can be extended to some of the suited connectors or lower pairs if you are playing at an exceptionally passive table with little raising.

Steal Raises

Most of the hands we advised you to play should be opened for a raise in those rare cases when you are on the button in a pot that hasn’t been entered. Beware…stealing the blinds is very difficult in low limit shorthanded texas holdem. Most poker players playing this level will call your raise with virtually anything in the big blind. Many will call from the small blind. Steal raises from the cutoff seat are generally not advisable. You may stretch your raising requirements SLIGHTLY if first in after two have folded, but remember you’ve still got 60% of your opponents yet to act. Raise when you can expect to narrow the field to one, for then you will be in the driver’s seat.

Aggression

Shorthanded (6-max) holdem is typically characterized by aggression. This is true in the low limit shorthanded 6 max games as well, however, the unbridled aggression effective at higher limits may not serve you as well in low limit poker. You must remain aggressive, but beware that the conditions are different and you may not be able to bully your way to as many pots. Typically, your preflop raises will be met by two or more callers. If you raise with two high cards and miss the flop, you are probably behind in the hand. With two opponents, we advocate betting the flop. One luxury of low limit poker is that your bets will not often be met with raises or check-raises.

The 6-max tables are filled with calling stations…your best hands will get callers, but if you raise with KQ and there’s an ace and two rags on the flop, you will not be able to bet your opponent’s pocket twos off the hand most of the time. Similarly, hands like pocket sevens that are good raising hands shorthanded in higher limit poker are not profitable when raised at low limits. With multiple callers expected, you will probably have to hit a set to win…so raising increases your investment and is a poor play from an expected value standpoint.

HitTheFlop

If you’ve hit your flop, then you must be extremely aggressive. Slow playing is generally a no-no (unless you have a set or are heads up, then there are times when a slow play is called for). Remember, most of these low-limit hold em players will call you down with hands like middle or bottom pair, a gutshot or even an overcard or two. Don’t allow them to bad beat you cheaply. Make them pay to see their longshot draws. Extract your money from them when you’ve got the edge. Remember also that in shorthanded poker games top pair with mediocre kicker is a much better hand than it is on full tables. If I flop top pair with my K2s in the small blind, i am usually going to check raise. Check-raising out of the blinds is very profitable.

Late players will bet their gutshots or bottom pairs, and, more importantly, will pay you off to the river after your check-raise. This is an important play…not only will it earn you money when it works but it will discourage players from trying to steal pots. Check-raises with just top pair are extremely rare at low limit holdem, and your opponents will make note of it and fear you. Any flop in which you have top pair should be raised, unless there was a preflop raiser. Then, use your judgement as to whether he should be checkraised, depending on the board and his raising frequency.

Shorthanded Poker

Low limit shorthanded (6 max) texas holdem is a game swimming with fish. If you play tight, aggressive poker you will win at an astonishing rate due to the poor play of your opponents. Stay aggressive, but bear in mind that the number of opponents will dictate whether you should go full throttle or put on the brakes. Hop onto the 1/2 6 max holdem tables at Party Poker today, follow these guidelines and I guarantee you’ll be a profitable poker player.

Strategic Planning Smothers Innovation

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

“How far would Moses have gone it he had taken a poll in Egypt?” Harry Truman, thirty-third American president

From a standing start, a financial services company had two decades of very strong growth. They were entrepreneurial and opportunistic. New products, services, and distribution channels evolved and developed as the leaders passionately pulled the organization toward their vision. But its growth wasn’t always a pretty sight.

Product and service ideas seemed to come from the wrong people, at the wrong time, in the wrong ways, and for all the wrong reasons. Often they had to be developed on a shoestring budget or using the philosophy of “make a little, sell a little, make a little more.” However imperfectly, customers were well served, product leadership was established, and in key markets, dominance was achieved.

Then senior management changed. The original, fairly well balanced, senior management team was eventually replaced with Technomanagers (focused on management systems and technology). When they looked back at the twisting and turning paths left by product development and marketing, they were determined to “bring some order to this craziness.” These were “processes out of control”, management declared.

So a Strategic Planning Committee was formed. It consisted of fifteen senior managers and support staff from quality improvement, customer service, accounting, marketing, human resources, and planning. They surveyed, researched, collected data, discussed, analyzed, diagrammed, and planned marketing strategies and new products. They wrote a powerful vision, values, purpose, and strategic planning document that could have been a business school case study.

Each thoughtful new product and marketing campaign took off with a bang…and then slowly fizzled. None were outright failures. But the company’s history of ever-rising sales success flattened out. Key people started leaving. Passion and energy levels slowly sank. Today the company is struggling to catch up with its changing markets and ever-stronger competitors.

McGill University management professor, Henry Mintzberg has been extensively studying, teaching, writing, and consulting on management effectiveness, strategy formulation, and planning since 1968. His book, The Rise and Fall of Strategic Planning, reports on the exhaustive research and thinking he’s been doing on this popular management technique.

In a passage on neurotic and compulsive management he writes, “above all, the machine organization (what I call Technomanagement)…is obsessed with control, first of the workers but everyone else after that…all this is done to ensure the stability of the operations and the smooth functioning of the bureaucratic machine.” He concludes that the biggest reason strategic planning doesn’t work stems from “the planning school’s grand fallacy: Because analysis is not synthesis, strategic planning is not strategy formulation (his emphasis)…ultimately the term strategic planning has proved to be an oxymoron.”

The new senior managers at the now mediocre financial services company proved to be caretaker or maintenance managers. They fell into these all too common strategic planning traps:

• Strategy formulation was treated as a separate task. It isn’t. No matter how much time and analysis we give it, no committee, staff support professional, consultants, or brilliant strategist can develop an effective strategic plan in isolation. Strategy is an interactive process. It might be separated from daily management, but can’t it be separated from leadership. It is leadership.

• Management committed the classic blunder of applying logical hindsight when they looked back at a series of opportunistic and serendipitous product and market innovations.

• Adding up all the time the fifteen Strategic Planning Committee members spent in the market either finding or serving customers produced a total of less than ten percent for the whole group. Theirs was an artificial world of budgets, plans, analysis, strategies, concepts, theories, and numbers. The valuable experience of the sales, service, and field support people who lived in the marketplace with customers were reduced to aggregate data points, opinion survey categories, and disembodied quotations on questionnaires.

• Senior managers lost the rich learning, opportunistic, and urgent nature of evolving their strategies “on the fly” in the market. Effective strategic opportunism, like effective servant-leadership, both leads and follows.

Effective planning is a critical success factor. But the focus and type of planning is what’s critical. Two types are needed. First, personal, team, and organization planning should focus especially hard on improvement. This critical planning establishes systems and processes to continually build and improve understanding, skills, and competencies. So when those unexpected opportunities come along that fit your vision, values, and purpose, you’re able to capitalize on them.

The second type of planning is implementation or action planning. It’s disciplined, short term (today, any detailed action planning beyond two years is ludicrous) and centered on annual goals, monthly or weekly priorities.

Relief for Menopausal Symtoms – Insomnia, Night Sweats, Hot Flashes, Bloating and Skin Condtions

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

The word that comes to mind when I think of Geranium is “balance” – physically and especially emotionally!

Geranium has a fresh, slightly rosy scent with a fluid consistency and mixes well with many other essential oils.

Geranium has won the notable distinction of being called a “Woman’s Oil” and in my aromatherapy practice female clients consistently experience good results when using it for regulating their physical, mental, and emotional imbalances, especially those associated with menstrual cycles and menopause!

Geranium is truly a first-aid oil every woman should have on hand. Its tonifying action helps relieve nervous emotional conditions like anxiety, confusion, depression, lethargy, energy swings, moodiness and tearfulness.

Women have used Geranium successfully for years to relieve premenstrual conditions and to smoothly navigate the menopausal period.

Geranium supports and nourishes the adrenal cortex when ovarian estrogen decreases at menopause and promotes a smooth transition for women during this time bestowing its many well known benefits. Research is being done to understand the mechanism for exactly why Geranium is so effective in treating female imbalances.

Geranium’s regulating properties act to balance the skin’s natural sebum making it especially useful for nourishing combination skin types. It is excellent for any skin type, as it will balance too oily, too dry or combination skin types.

Geranium’s value as a skincare oil extends to treating bruises, cuts, ulcers, broken capillaries and skin dermatitis, as well as rocacea and eczema. Geranium oil will keep your skin fresh, smooth and supple.

Geranium has been effectively used to treat an assortment of symptoms, including overcoming addiction, labor and childbirth, improved circulation, relief of congestion, detoxification, constipation, indigestion, as well as its traditional use for hormonal imbalances and menopausal difficulties.

Geranium also acts as a diuretic and can relieve fluid retention, as well as the uncomfortable swelling and bloating that often accompanies menstruation and the menopausal years.

As a “woman’s oil” Geranium hormonal balancing effect has traditionally been enhanced when blended with Clary Sage to alleviate problems associated with menopause and menstruation.

AROMATIC BLENDS: Clary Sage, Lavender, Petitgrain, Rose, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Chamomile.

CAUTION: Due to its hormonal action Geranium should be avoided during pregnancy. Geranium can lower blood sugar, and should be avoided if you are hypoglycemic.

Please note: There are many cheap chemical copies of essential oils available, but these are not recommended for therapeutic use. For best results always use ethically wild crafted or pure, organic essential oils that are pesticide free!

Entrepreneurs: Benefits vs. Features-Know the Difference!

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Entrepreneurs know their business. They know their product, their service. Many of them write creative Web sites. But, one thing they are not as adept at is promotional copy.

It’s not the book, it’s the hook! It’s not the beautiful Web site, it’s the one with benefit-driven headlines that lead your visitor straight to your sales message. What you say outside the book covers matters. What you say about your service on your site must be so much more powerful than your pleasing personality or mission statement.

Always promote with benefits over features. Benefits show the value of your products. They solve your particular audience’s problem! They tell your clients and customers what they will gain–and what they will lose from your product or service. Some common benefits include: more money, less trouble, more time, less stress, desirable relationships, less drama and trauma, and more zest and energy, less fatigue.

Apply this Essential “Hot-Selling Point” Before you Write:

1. Write down a list of 5-10 benefits of each product and service. Think about your number one benefit your book or service solves. For example, your clients and customers don’t want to know only how to get their book written, they want to know why should they write it? How much will their business thrive from putting that effort out? Will they get more credibility, more trust, and more lifelong income?

For her book, “Tug of Heart,” one client wrote this partial list of benefits: experience deeper hues of joy, enjoy more passion, trust yourself, engage in work you love, more energy from being in a state of unblocked flow, life on terms that fit you, experience greater confidence in making choices that are right for you, more through challenging decisions with ease and confidence, and live your juiciest life yet!

From these, this client wrote the sales piece for her book’s back cover and her Web site.

2. Write down specific benefits. Include how your customer will feel after buying your product. For instance, after you buy my book or product, you’ll look and feel 10 years younger without a face lift. Let them see a picture of what it’s like to be the happy author, who sells enough books to take that Caribbean vacation each year.

3. Include some of your personality in your promotion copy. For example, “My book is less than the price of a good dinner, with wine of course! And the skills in it will serve you every day for as many times as you choose to duplicate your success results.

Always answer your customer’s question, “Why should I buy your product or service?” with strong benefits to help them solve their problems. Benefits sell.

Are You the Father? Paternity Test When You Suspect Infidelity

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Every time a female infidelity is known, is very common that suspicions from her partner arises regarding the paternity of their children.

Even though kids are not babies anymore, the knowledge of a new affair can always be a warning sign of previous unfaithful activities. At the end, if she betrayed your trust and confidence now, easily could have done it before.

When you believe that your spouse or partner could have cheated on you before, paternity concerns start roaming your head, especially if there is no chance of saving your marriage and divorce is on the horizon.

DNA Paternity tests are gaining popularity as they have become available to everybody and their prices are really affordable; however, if you decide that you should perform a Paternit test, there are two kinds of DNA paternity tests to consider, and you should be aware of their use before hiring the service.

The standard DNA paternity test is a cheaper and easier test intended to get results for your own private knowledge, mainly as a first result to go into a deeper research or to reach peace of mind immediately. As this test does not need a qualified sample taking, can be done discretely for your own knowledge.

By the other hand, the legal DNA paternity test is intended to be used in a court of law; therefore a strict methodology has to be followed to take the samples.

To use the legal paternity test, a laboratory member of the AABB Parentage Testing Accreditation Program, has to be used.

This accreditation is based mainly on the standards followed to perform the tests ensuring that the samples are taken properly and giving them the legal background required to be used in court.

A good strategy, if affordable, could be perform a standard DNA paternity test discretely to clear or confirm suspicions, and according to the results obtained, if needed, a legal Paternity test can be done later, if results confirm that you are not the father.

Regarding your Relationship, remember than asking for a DNA paternity test, most of the time, will unleash a war within your marriage, regardless the outcome obtained.

Be fully aware that if you manage to save your marriage and the test confirms that you are the father, she will resent that you did not trust her.
Also, if you decide to end with your marriage, a paternity test will always make the relation more difficult than ever, which is not good for the breake up arrangements.

Remember to use the DNA paternity test for your benefit, not against you in any way, therefore, a very good approach would be perform a standard test for your eyes only and further or legal testing could be done later if things reach that point or the test is really necessary for legal procedures.
